Another Successful Home Tour

December 06, 2024

We want to thank each and every one of you who attended this year’s home tour. The night was warm and the company was great. Each one of our houses offered a different look at the historic homes in our neighborhood. And we were thrilled to be able to help the Tower Theatre begin its 85th anniversary year.

This was our first year using Square and we admit that we have some learning to do. We promise to make next year’s receipts look a little more like tickets. We do want to thank Carlos and his staff at Moto Deli for selling tickets as well as the staff at Gazebo Gardens.

Annalisa Perea’s office helped us work with Brandon Swindell to make the trolley available to our tour goers. We hope you enjoyed the ride. And thanks to Melissa Bangerter from Fresno High for decorating the trolley, providing the music and acting as a ride along docent.

Lastly, we want to thank the students of Fresno High School for making our tour one of a kind. Without the student senators, the band members, the choir, the string orchestra and the drama students, our tour would not be what it is. A special thanks goes to the teachers who devote their time to prepare those students so well.

We are not just a home tour committee; we see our mission as one that supports the Fresno High community year round. So, in addition to the tour and the holiday decorations on the Van Ness and Weldon medians, look for our other neighborhood activities next year. They will include the Spring Yard contest in April, the student scholarship social in May, the Halloween yard decorating contest in October and next year’s home tour on Monday, December 1.

We are an all volunteer, non-profit organization made up of neighbors. If you would like to join our group, simply send us an email at thefhshometour@gmail.com. If you have a home in the neighborhood that you would like to put on next year’s tour, please let us know. We welcome any donations from the community. A sponsorship of $500 may be used to support a Fresno High student scholarship. All donations will be recognized on our website.

Join us next year for our 29th anniversary home tour. See you then.

2024 Tree Lighting

This year’s tree lighting at Fresno High was bigger and better than ever. Students, staff and neighbors joined together to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.

The event started at 5:30 on December 4. There was entertainment and food for sale both inside and outside Royce Hall. The tree in the foyer was beautifully decorated in the school’s colors of purple and gold.

Then Santa started the countdown to light the tree. Make sure to drive or walk by at night and see the brightly lit deodar cedar—a symbol of our neighborhood. Have a wonderful holiday season!
